A shared resident facility designed to feel anything but shared — a private hotel terrace for the people who live here. Pool with integrated raised spa, dedicated pool room and bathroom amenity, considered landscaping and twilight lighting throughout.

The brief

The developer wanted a common-area pool that worked harder than the standard strata template — durable enough to last 20-plus years of resident use, but warm and considered enough that it would actually be used, not just looked at from the apartment balconies.

A dedicated pool room and bathroom were part of the brief: a place residents could change, store towels, run the equipment, and keep the pool deck uncluttered. The whole facility needed to feel premium without crossing into "hotel-grade" expense — a fine line that demanded careful spec selection throughout.

The response

We designed a generous rectangular pool with an integrated raised spa step at one end — a single concrete shell with two zones, shared filtration and equipment, which keeps maintenance and running costs manageable for the body corporate. The mid-tone glass mosaic interior gives the water a warm aquamarine tone that reads as luxurious rather than clinical.

The dedicated pool room sits adjacent to the deck, housing the plant equipment, towel storage, and a separate accessible bathroom for residents. Crazy paving stone (slip-resistant when wet) wraps the pool and continues into the lounge zone — durable underfoot, easy to maintain, and good for shoeless residents in summer. Banana palm and structural planting along one boundary softens the architecture and screens the neighbouring property.

Twilight lighting throughout — perimeter wall washes, planter up-lights, and integrated pool lighting — transforms the space at dusk into something genuinely worth coming downstairs for.
