A wellness retreat in the backyard. Plunge pool, integrated spa, and a custom sauna pavilion — engineered as a single architectural composition designed for daily use, year-round.
The clients wanted a wellness ritual at home, not occasional luxury. The pool, spa, and sauna needed to work together as a daily practice — warm up in the sauna, plunge into the pool, recover in the spa, and enjoy the space morning and evening. The aesthetic brief was equally clear: clean, white, modern, with natural texture to soften the architecture.
We designed a compact rectangular pool with a fully integrated raised spa at one end — both share filtration and equipment, with the spa heated independently. The crazy paving stone deck (hand-laid throughout) provides texture against the white-rendered pavilion and the home behind it. The sauna pavilion was custom-built to house a Revel infrared sauna with a glass-and-timber door framing the interior — both a functional wellness room and a visual focal point from the pool.
Cactus and structural planting along the boundary fence soften the white walls and bring desert texture to a coastal Sydney site. The result is a complete year-round wellness zone in a relatively compact footprint.
