A family pool with curved-step entry, travertine surrounds and lush twilight landscaping — designed to anchor a modern two-storey home and its adjacent covered entertaining pavilion.

A family pool with a curved beach-step entry, set against a modern two-storey home and an adjacent covered outdoor entertaining pavilion. Twilight lighting, banana palms, and Japanese maples make the whole composition come alive in the evening.
A modern family home that needed an outdoor centrepiece. The clients wanted a pool that worked for both the kids — easy entry, generous shallow zone — and adult entertaining, with proper connection to the covered alfresco area and outdoor kitchen.
The aesthetic brief leaned modern coastal: a warm-white palette, travertine underfoot, lush layered planting, and considered lighting throughout so the space worked equally well at 9am and 9pm.
We designed a generous rectangular pool with a curved tanning-ledge step at the front — providing the easy beach-style entry the brief called for, and a beautiful focal point when viewed from the kitchen, alfresco area, or upstairs balcony. The curve softens the rectilinear architecture and reads as a natural extension of the home's geometry.
The travertine deck wraps the pool and flows seamlessly into the covered entertaining pavilion — one continuous surface, no awkward transitions. Strelitzia (banana palms) line one side for tropical texture and privacy, while feature Japanese maples on the opposite side give the space a contrasting cool tone that comes alive in autumn.
Integrated bollard up-lighting at the deck edge, perimeter wall wash lighting, and a feature fire bowl in the rear garden transform the space at dusk — turning what's a beautiful family pool by day into something genuinely cinematic at night.
